Luke 23:34  Jesus said, “Father, forgive them, for they don’t know what they are doing.” And the soldiers gambled for his clothes by throwing dice.”Jesus gently forgives. (NLT)

He extended his hands to be nailed into place. He looked his executioners in the eye. As close as they were, his Father and ours was closer still. To him, he spoke kind words about those who nailed down his healing hands. To him, he sought forgiveness for those who gambled for his clothes. To him, he sought salvation for those who secured those beautiful feet that had carried the good news to anyone, everyone, and to these hard men carrying out this soul-slaying assignment.

And Jesus replied, “I assure you, today you will be with me in paradise.”

Jesus gently saves.

In a moment where every breath was precious and drawn with difficulty, Jesus spoke words of assurance. In a moment where every nerve in his body felt like an unending bolt of lightning, Jesus welcomed home one last sinner. In a moment where his heartbeats slowed to the point of finality, he took to heart one more lost sheep blissfully saved from the wolves of hell.

Then Jesus shouted, “Father, I entrust my spirit into your hands!” And with those words he breathed his last.

Jesus gently died so that we may truly live.

His final breath formed a shout of triumph and committal. His final breath made possible the fresh breath of heaven for every soul redeemed. His final breath assures us all that Jesus paid it all, and that peace with God is possible.

Jesus is gentle. Jesus is kind. Jesus is the Savior of our souls. (NLT)

I will live a kind and gentle life offering the good news of Jesus to every lost soul.

Our Father, in this world where everyone shouts and shoves, make me ever-more gentle and kind. In this world where every person stands in need of your forgiving grace, place your words of truth and life in my mouth. In this world where might seems right, use me to show your heavenly alternative. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 92:12-15

Psalm 92:12-15
The righteous thrive like a palm tree
and grow like a cedar tree in Lebanon.
Planted in the house of the LORD,
they thrive in the courts of our God.
They will still bear fruit in old age,
healthy and green,
to declare, “The LORD is just;
he is my rock,
and there is no unrighteousness in him.”

Daily D – Matthew 22:15-17

Matthew 22:15-17 Then the Pharisees went and plotted how to trap him by what he said. So they sent their disciples to him, along with the Herodians. “Teacher,” they said, “we know that you are truthful and teach truthfully the way of God. You don’t care what anyone thinks nor do you show partiality. Tell us, then, what you think. Is it lawful to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”

Daily D – Psalm 90:12

Psalm 90:12 Teach us to number our days carefully so that we may develop wisdom in our hearts.

Daily D – Matthew 17:1-9

Matthew 17:1-9 After six days Jesus took Peter, James, and his brother John and led them up on a high mountain by themselves. He was transfigured in front of them, and his face shone like the sun; his clothes became as white as the light. Suddenly, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with him. Then Peter said to Jesus, “Lord, it’s good for us to be here. If you want, I will set up three shelters here: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, suddenly a bright cloud covered them, and a voice from the cloud said, “This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well-pleased. Listen to him!” When the disciples heard this, they fell facedown and were terrified.
Jesus came up, touched them, and said, “Get up; don’t be afraid.” When they looked up they saw no one except Jesus alone.
As they were coming down the mountain, Jesus commanded them, “Don’t tell anyone about the vision until the Son of Man is raised from the dead.”

Daily D – Matthew 15:34

Matthew 15:34 “How many loaves do you have?” Jesus asked them. “Seven,” they said, “and a few small fish.”
