Joshua 4:14  That day the Lord made Joshua a great leader in the eyes of all the Israelites, and for the rest of his life they revered him as much as they had revered Moses. (NLT)

Leadership media could be stacked as high as the sky. Leaders worth following because of their deep and abiding walk with God are few and far between. Many are labeled godly leaders, but how does God show up in their lives like Moses, Joshua, David, Peter, and Paul?

A leadership crisis could have occurred when Moses climbed his last mountain and died. It did not happen because of what God says in Joshua 1:5:

“No one will be able to stand against you as long as you live.
For I will be with you as I was with Moses.
I will not fail you or abandon you.”

God said, “I will be with you.”

God said, “I will not fail you or abandon you.”

This is why God could repeatedly tell Joshua, “Be strong and courageous,” and expect Joshua to obey him by living with strength and courage. When God is with you, you can face anything and everything. King David put it this way:

Even when I walk through the darkest valley,
I will not be afraid, for you are close beside me.
Your rod and your staff protect and comfort me.

‭‭Psalm ‭23‬:‭4‬

If God is with you, what could make you afraid?

If God is with you, what could defeat you?

If God is with you, what can you not do that he tells you to do?

Let’s review:

1. God loves you with everlasting love.
2. God is with you to the very end of the age and beyond.
3. God gives you strength and courage and commands you to exercise it at his direction.
4. God will never leave you, forsake you, or fail.

Therefore, you can live with strength and courage today bigger, faster, and stronger than anything you will face.

God-led and God-empowered leaders are distinctively different from leaders led by axioms based on the wisdom of our age. Live the difference. Live a life worth honoring.

I will live on mission with God in the strength and courage he provides and commands.

Our Father, it is amazing how little it takes to press fear into our souls. We so often feel like we are all alone against our problems. Thank you for reminding us again and again how much you love us, how you are with us, how strength and courage are your gifts for every circumstance we face, and how the one thing you cannot do is fail. Bless us with leaders worth honoring. Empower us to lead with courage and confidence in who you are and how you want to use us to bring your special future into being. Amen.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Deuteronomy 30:19, 20 “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 29:29

Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Deuteronomy 26:16-19 “The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 23:4-5

Deuteronomy 23:4, 5 “For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 17:16-20

Deuteronomy 17:16-20 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.” He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and **he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.** Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.
