Numbers 20:8 “You and Aaron must take the staff and assemble the entire community. As the people watch, speak to the rock over there, and it will pour out its water. You will provide enough water from the rock to satisfy the whole community and their livestock.” (NLT)

Psalm 50:23 “But giving thanks is a sacrifice that truly honors me. If you keep to my path, I will reveal to you the salvation of God.” (NLT)

God’s simple instructions produce extravagant results. Let’s remember who the Giver of All Good Things is and that it is not us. Let’s thank God for his every good and perfect gift.

Thanksgiving is a sacrifice because it places our focus where it belongs. Thanksgiving prevents us from confusing who we are and what we do from who God is and what he does.

This is a good Sunday lesson to last us all week long.

I will follow God’s instructions and thank him for all he does.

Our Father, thank you for your every good and perfect gift. You enrich our lives with good things. This is a good day to begin developing the habitual lifestyle of gratitude. Amen.
