2 Samuel 8:15  David reigned over all Israel, doing what was just and right for all his people.

      Thus David ruled over all of Israel. He ruled well—fair and even-handed in all his duties and relationships.

There are two things we know for sure about God; He is just and He is right. 

King David reflected these characteristics. For a good long time, David lived a life God could bless. Notice the inclusion of Jehoshaphat and his role in David’s administration. He kept a record of how the king and his kingdom administered justice and righteousness. Those to come in future generations could look back and see how to lead like King David by doing what was just and right for all his people. 

It was when King David started tipping the scales of justice in his own favor that things went downhill fast. The good news for us is it was all recorded. David’s life was not whitewashed. His flaws were not hidden. He was not a sinless saint. We learn from David what to do. We also learn what not to do. 

We see the positive consequences when he did what was just and right. 

We also see the negative consequences when he did what was unjust and wrong.

King David is a shining example in so many ways. He is also a warning for those who think they are invulnerable. 

• This is a good day to determine to live a just and right life. 
• This is a good day to set up yourself for positive consequences. 
• This is a good day to protect yourself from negative consequences. 
• This is a good day to keep a journal of what goes right and wrong, of what is confused and left undone. 
• This is a good day to live a life God can bless.
