John 14:16, 17 And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever. He is the Spirit of Truth. The world is unable to receive him because it doesn’t see him or know him. But you do know him, because he remains with you and will be in you. (CSB)

Vindicate me, LORD,
because I have lived with integrity
and have trusted in the LORD without wavering.
Test me, LORD, and try me;
examine my heart and mind.
For your faithfulness guides me,
and I live by your truth.

Psalm 26:1-3
Truthful words stand the test of time,
but lies are soon exposed.

Proverbs 12:19, New Living Translation

We live in a choose-your-own-truth world. Many people declare there is no such thing as truth. What they mean by this most often is that your understanding of truth is wrong. Otherwise, they would not make such a truth claim that there is no such thing as truth.

Jesus said, “I am the way, the TRUTH, and the life,” (John 14:6, my emphasis added). All truth is God’s truth. Truth is what he says it is. He is the final authority on all things. He is our Creator, Sustainer, Deliverer, Judge, and Redeemer.

All authority is God’s. Any authority we have and hold or grant to others or others exercise over us is temporarily delegated. In the end, every authoritarian will account for his or her administration of that delegated authority. Rush Limbaugh was right when he said, “Talent on loan from God.” We are stewards of authority, not owners.

The affect of our lives, our effectiveness in living, loving, and stewarding influence is about as enduring and beneficial as our alignment with God’s truth. King David knew this. His son Solomon recognized this. Jesus declared it and demonstrated it.

How many times have you seen someone in a television show or movie swear to tell “the truth, the whole truth, and nothing less than the truth”? It is impossible for someone to do this if he or she does not recognize the existence of truth. Justice then becomes injustice. Rights, unalienable or civil, do not exist with trustworthy application.

Truthless living leads to disorder and chaos. Power becomes more important than social contracts. Anarchy eventually comes for us all. The National Guard is not clear on who to push back or when to shoot.

Truthlessness turns children into experiments. They can be sexualized, idealized, indoctrinated, and manipulated.

Truthlessness empowers politicians to say spending trillions of dollars is really revenue neutral. Our credit card companies think otherwise when we make similar declarations.

We need more truth, not less. We need the protection truth provides. We need the liberty truth provides. We need the predictability truth provides.

We need more Jesus.

We need more Holy Spirit.

The good news is we have as much truth as we need as we align and attune our hearts and minds with Jesus. We can live what is true because the Holy Spirit will lead us into all truth. The ambiguities of our age fall away as we experience and embrace God’s truth.

I will live in step with the Spirit of Truth.

Our Father, teach me your truth. Deliver me from every lie. Empower me to communicate your truth so that all may live in the glorious freedom your truth provides. Amen.

Daily D – Deuteronomy 30:19-20

Deuteronomy 30:19, 20 “This day I call the heavens and the earth as witnesses against you that I have set before you life and death, blessings and curses. Now choose life, so that you and your children may live and that you may love the LORD your God, listen to his voice, and hold fast to him. For the LORD is your life, and he will give you many years in the land he swore to give to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 29:29

Deuteronomy 29:29 “The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but the things revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may follow all the words of this law.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 26:16-19

Deuteronomy 26:16-19 “The Lord your God commands you this day to follow these decrees and laws; carefully observe them with all your heart and with all your soul. You have declared this day that the Lord is your God and that you will walk in obedience to him, that you will keep his decrees, commands and laws—that you will listen to him. And the Lord has declared this day that you are his people, his treasured possession as he promised, and that you are to keep all his commands. He has declared that he will set you in praise, fame and honor high above all the nations he has made and that you will be a people holy to the Lord your God, as he promised.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 23:4-5

Deuteronomy 23:4, 5 “For they did not come to meet you with bread and water on your way when you came out of Egypt, and they hired Balaam son of Beor from Pethor in Aram Naharaim to pronounce a curse on you. However, the Lord your God would not listen to Balaam but turned the curse into a blessing for you, because the Lord your God loves you.”

Daily D – Deuteronomy 17:16-20

Deuteronomy 17:16-20 The king, moreover, must not acquire great numbers of horses for himself or make the people return to Egypt to get more of them, for the Lord has told you, “You are not to go back that way again.” He must not take many wives, or his heart will be led astray. He must not accumulate large amounts of silver and gold.

When he takes the throne of his kingdom, he is to write for himself on a scroll a copy of this law, taken from that of the Levitical priests. It is to be with him, and **he is to read it all the days of his life so that he may learn to revere the Lord his God and follow carefully all the words of this law and these decrees and not consider himself better than his fellow Israelites and turn from the law to the right or to the left.** Then he and his descendants will reign a long time over his kingdom in Israel.
