Then Jesus said to the Jews who had believed in him, “If you continue in my word, you really are my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”
JOHN 8:31-32 (CSB)

—————————————————————————

Truth liberates. False belief enslaves.

Search through John’s Gospel and notice this idea of truth. Truth is more than an intellectual pursuit. Truth is more than a concept to debate. There is no such thing as My Truth or Your Truth. There is only The Truth. That truth is embodied in Jesus.

Jesus says in 14:6, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

Jesus is The Truth.

If this sounds exclusive, it is. It is also inclusive. Every person is invited to know and experience Jesus, not only for a moment of enlightenment but for a life of growing, loving relationship.

Jesus said to those who discovered that he is The Truth, “If you continue in my word, you are really my disciples. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Truth and freedom are strongly connected. We cannot live truly free until we see Jesus for who he is. We cannot live truly free until we accept Jesus for who he is. We cannot live truly free until we lean into a lifestyle of continually knowing and experiencing Jesus.

Today can be your liberation day when you meet the truth in the person of Jesus. Seek truth. Know Jesus. Live free.

—————————————————————————

I will live in the freedom of knowing Jesus.

—————————————————————————

Our Father, thank you for truth. Thank you for freedom. Thank you that we can know you and experience you and help others do the same. May your truth pervade our lives. May your truth overflow into the lives of others. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
