Daily D – Psalm 89:14-15

Righteousness and justice are the foundation of your throne; faithful love and truth go before you. Happy are the people who know the joyful shout; LORD, they walk in the light from your face.
PSALM 89:14-15 (CSB)

—————————————————————————

The Right and Justice are the roots of your rule;
Love and Truth are its fruits.
Blessed are the people who know the passwords of praise,
who shout on parade in the bright presence of GOD.
(The Message)

Some days it is hard to know what to say. Some days it is hard to know what to think. When bad news accumulates and accelerates the way it is right now, we are prone to look away, to seek distraction.

Is there any hope for a better future?

Not in Washington D. C.

Not in Kabul.

Not in NATO.

Not in the United Nations.

There is a God in heaven, however, whose rule is Right and Just. He produces Love and Truth for all who trust in him.

Psalm 89 starts strong and continues with positive declarations for long sections. Then it turns dark. So dark that the author asks, “How long, LORD? Will you hide forever?” (verse 46).

He continues in verse 49: “Lord, where are the former acts of your faithful love that you swore to David in your faithfulness?”

We do not get to choose the days in which we live. We do get to choose how we live in them. We are to seek what is right and just in our day and time. We will know we are doing the right thing the right way for the right reason when love and truth accelerate and hatred and hostility dissipate.

There is plenty of work for everyone. Let us start where we are. Let us each become part of God’s solution to the mess we are in.

—————————————————————————

I will focus my life on what is right and just.

—————————————————————————

Our Father, we are in a mess down here. When will you clean up things? How may we join you on the cleanup crews? What can we do today where we live, work, and play? How can we be part of the solution and not part of the problem? Your kingdom come. Your will be done. Here and now, today and forever. Amen.

Daily D – Psalm 74:16-17

Psalm 74:16, 17
“The day is yours, and yours also the night;
you established the sun and moon.
It was you who set all the boundaries of the earth;
you made both summer and winter.

Daily D – Judges 10:11-14

Judges 10:11-14 The LORD replied, “When the Egyptians, the Amorites, the Ammonites, the Philistines, the Sidonians, the Amalekites and the Maonites oppressed you and you cried to me for help, did I not save you from their hands? But you have forsaken me and served other gods, so I will no longer save you. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them save you when you are in trouble!”

Daily D – Judges 6:7-10

Judges 6:7-10 When the Israelites cried out to the LORD because of Midian, he sent them a prophet, who said, “This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: I brought you up out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery. I rescued you from the hand of the Egyptians. And I delivered you from the hand of all your oppressors; I drove them out before you and gave you their land. I said to you, ‘I am the LORD your God; do not worship the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you live.’ But you have not listened to me.”

Daily D – Judges 4:4

Judges 4:4 Now Deborah, a prophet, the wife of Lappidoth, was leading Israel at that time.

Daily D – Judges 2:8-10

Judges 2:8-10 Joshua son of Nun, the servant of the Lord, died at the age of a hundred and ten. And they buried him in the land of his inheritance, at Timnath Heres in the hill country of Ephraim, north of Mount Gaash. After that whole generation had been gathered to their ancestors, another generation grew up who knew neither the Lord nor what he had done for Israel.
